Imaginative Play

It has been so fun over the past month or so watching Wilson's language develop. When I'm driving home from work and Wilson talks to me on the phone there used to be a lot of silence, but now Wilson can tell me what he did that day at Ginger's. His favorite thing is playing in those cozy coupe cars and the older kids will sometimes push him around and play "roller coaster."

In the last week we've really seen him begin imaginative play. Yesterday he ran over to our neighbors who have lots of cool outdoor toys for their grandkids. They have a cozy cottage toy and Wilson loved playing in there, answering the door, washing his hands in the sink and calling people on the phone. When we closed the shutters to the windows and knocked he opened the windows and said, "What can I do to help you?" Hilarious. And where on earth did he learn that?

Friday night he was playing behind the hanging clothes in my closet and started singing, "Jungle Room" from Imagination Movers.

Unrelated to the topic of this post, but since I'm already embedding videos, I should mention he LOVES this song from Willy Wonka. Everytime this commercial comes on he stops, takes an exaggerated breath and says, "Daddy I like this song!"

I'm sure you've read what the studies say: Imaginary play is the greatest indicator of success at school!
