Today was the last weekday that I will be at home with the kids full time for awhile. I accepted a 90 day full-time contract with my former employer. I feel excited about the opportunity (and the fact that it's short-term and temporary!). And I feel grateful that I've been home, as a mom or a work from home freelancer for the past year. Yet it still tugs at my heartstrings to think of not spending every day with little Maribel, since she is growing so fast and seemingly adding new words and abilities every day.
This morning after working some late nights on a contract, I was tired. Never being one to stay in my pajamas all day, I decided this was the day! I wasn't going anywhere and I was going to hug and kiss on Maribel and curl up with a book while she napped.
But not long after the kids got picked up for school and Kevin left, Maribel came upstairs to my room where I was with her shoes and indicated she wanted them on, so I put them on. She then came back up with my shoes, and insisted I put them on, so I did. She came back up with her coat, and insisted I put it on and button it for her, so I did. She then got fussy and when I asked, "What?" she tugged at my hand. I followed her downstairs where she tried to drag my purse to me. So we went grocery shopping. In the bedding section, she came upon a display of Frozen themed items and said, "Let it go! Let it go!" (I got it on video but Blogger hasn't been loading videos for some time now).
Evelyn came home with a prize for good behavior. Wilson came home with a note saying they were going to start giving him more advanced math tests and work because of his skill level.
We had a lazy dinner of frozen pizza while Evelyn pretended she was a dog and Wilson told us of his plans to upcycle wood to enclose his school playground. We had "Frankenstein pudding" for dessert and enjoyed a sugar high for the following hour.
I'm so thankful for days like this.
