We made crafts.
We rode bikes. We try to go farther and farther each day to build up their endurance. We like to observe the little things along the way.
The kids played together. Nicely sometimes!
At dinner we try to recall nice things we do for one another and talk about things we can do the next day.
The Cocoa Krispies incident. Maribel starts every accusatory sentence with "Lovie blah blah blah." Lovie (Evie) gets all the blame, all the time.
Evelyn had 1-week soccer camp this week with the Chicago Fire team.
On Day 1 she was one of the biggest and best kids in her class. So on Day 2 they moved her up to the big kid class with 5-7 year olds. Kids who knew what they were doing.
She did not.
So she spent a lot of time picking grass, making friends and doing somersaults on the field. She'd intentionally get tagged during games so she could stand around. But she was still having fun.
My proud mom moment was her kindness to her teammates throughout the week. On Day 2 she was painfully shy being in this group of big kids. A little boy came a little late who then proceeded to scream and cry with his hands on his face for literally the next hour (sad!). He was embarrassed about a face painting. She stared at him the entire practice working up the nerve to talk to him. She found her moment about 20 minutes from the end of class. She approached him alone on the sidelines. He got quiet. He stopped crying for the rest of practice but he never did take his hands down from his face. Afterwards I asked what she said. She said she pinky-promised she wouldn't laugh at him, and that she was going to tag him with her ball on the next run so he could be on her team.
Later I heard her walking up to other kids at the end of practice saying things like "I like the way you kick!" Sweet Evelyn.
Wilson and Maribel made the best of our time on the sidelines.
We really embraced summer by having ice cream 3 days this week! Unfortunately, Maribel chose chocolate the first time. We learned our lesson after that.
Wilson started a video game coding class at Sylvan Learning. It's a STEM camp and he LOVES it. Each week they send us a link with the progress they've made: https://sylvan.tynker.com/showcase/7XjLF4RM
And as you can see, had a little Mac Photo Booth fun. Until next week...
