Evelyn, Week by Week

Evelyn Claire is 49 weeks old. We can't believe she will be 1 in just 3 short weeks. My goodness, on one hand it has flown by so quickly, on the other - we can't remember life without her.

After our holiday travel plans were thwarted, we soon realized it may have been somewhat of a blessing. Wilson had gotten sick and had an ear infection earlier in the week, and what we suspected was just an awful teething spell turned out to be an ear infection and a virus for Evelyn, leaving blisters all in her mouth :( No wonder she had been a bad eater recently! And, she was a grade A grump over the weekend from feeling so rotton.

She now likes to roll balls, play little games with us and Wilson (every morning he comes into her room and jumps next to her crib and she imitates him by jumping in her crib - she finds this hilarious) and rocks in her little rocking chair. While she loves Wilson's toys, she is starting to give more love to dollys and stuffed animals than Wilson ever did - must be the "girl" starting to show through. She had a milestone over the weekend though. Twice she let go of the ottomon she was using for balance and stood for a few seconds. She positively beamed each time and looked around as if to check that everyone was watching her big stunt. We've caught her practicing her balance in other ways too - she'll "stand" on her knees and work on her balance for a few seconds before moving on to the next activity.

We're looking forward to her feeling better - we feel a bit like we have an infant again with crying frequently during the day and throughout the night and constantly wanting to be held and walked.
