This week in addition to our normal "ABC crafts" we made a boat. He went fishing for his bath toys and ate goldfish while sailing. I asked him where he was going and he said, "With Grandma," no doubt remembering how much fun he had on Grandma and Grandpa Mangold's boat this summer in Storm Lake. Now, if I had known how long decorating a laundry basket would keep him occupied...let's just say I may be constructing other laundry basket crafts in the future.

We also made a homemade happy meal. He decorated his bag and we had chicken nuggets and apple dippers. He got a pad of post-it notes and a Thomas the Train pencil for his gift.
Somehow packaging the ordinary made it so fun. We also got out some play money from a board game and played drive-thru (see the imaginative play post from last month). He refused to count the money out for me and instead handed it to me as a crumpled mess each time.

Brilliant idea -- I'm stealing it!
