Pumpkin Patch

Today Wilson, Evelyn and I met up with a friend and her two children and went to Tom's Farm for some good 'ol pumpkin patch fun. And wow, it was fun. Wilson played in a huge bouncy pumpkin, an inflatable train with a slide (this was the biggest hit), tons of climbable toys like a tractor with a slide and a big train. They played in a mini silo filled with corn (another big hit) and saw all sorts of animals. When he saw the real tractors on the farm he remarked, "Look! There's a John Deere tractor!" The workers there were laughing that he knew his tractor brands.

We had apple cider and apple cider donuts and explored all the pumpkins and gourds (have I mentioned Wilson loooooves pumpkins? Our house is filled with decorative pumpkins for his enjoyment).

Evelyn wasn't content in the baby sling (= meltdown); she wanted me to physically hold her the whole time. My arms got so tired. So tired. Thank goodness this was a play date, because it just wouldn't have been possible for me to take care of Wilson in this wonderland with Evelyn in tow.

When we left Wilson went into immediate meltdown. He was spent. And guess what? He went down for a nap fo the first time in I-don't-remember-how-long without a fight. At all. The downside? He couldn't wake up. He slept from 3 p.m. to 5 a.m. In the morning he kept telling daddy, "I feel better now!" He must have really needed the sleep after all those days of refusing naps. It's tough to be a toddler. Even tougher to be a toddler's mom.
