Our Little Swimmer

Today Wilson had his first swim lesson and it was so fun. Of course, it was a parent/tot lesson that we took at the Centegra life fitness center about a block away. It's a brand new facility and the indoor pool for the little ones was the perfect temperature. We started with swiming motions to "The Wheels On The Bus" song and "Ring Around the Rosey." The instructor says her policy is not to immediatly start putting the babies under water, but to wait until they are "ready" when they start kind of trying to dunk their heads themselves. I think Wilson is there.

He practiced getting in and out of the pool, jumping in to Mommy and then swimming on his belly kicking his legs. We threw a floaty ball and then he "swam" to it with my hand supporting his belly. There were a few older babies and Wilson really watched them and copied them. He began kicking his own legs and was the only baby to start hand motions on his own when he swam to the ball. Very advanced :) Of course, stoic Wilson internalized most of his joy but I caught him cracking a smile a few times.

We'll post a picture of his lesson next week. It's really quite cute.
