The Weekend Top 10

Here is a list of our top 10 highlights from the weekend:

10. A "welcome home" greeting. Coming home Friday to Wilson's sidewalk chalk scribbles and "Wilson 'heart' mommy" on the driveway. We also found two masterpieces, Wilson's crayon scribbles on construction paper, one for mommy and one for daddy.

9. Crafting. I carved out some time to make a homemade birthday gift I had been wanting to get to for awhile (currently a secret - picture to come later!). I also had fun turning a few dollars worth of thrift store finds into decor I can change with the seasons. I'm using this as my table centerpiece now and it's missing something...but that's just a project for another weekend.

8. Swimming. Wilson's first swim lesson Saturday was so much fun (see post below)

7. Cooling off. Our old air conditioner was on its last leg, so it was nice to get a new air conditioner installed before the official start of summer - a painful expense, but we expect less expensive energy bills moving forward.
6. Finishing errands early. I pre-prepare most of our weeknight meals on the weekend for our sanity, health and budget. I normally don't get to this until Sunday and I usually lament at 6:00 p.m. that I don't know where the weekend went. This weekend I finished Saturday afternoon!
5. Friends. We went to dinner with our friends John and Rachel at Francesca's in West Dundee. It was good to catch up with them for a few hours and eat way too many carbs.
4. Laughs. Lots of laughs and giggles with Wilson this morning. That boy loves to wrestle with his dad.

3. Gardening. Planting flowers in pots for our front porch and our vegetable garden. This year we crammed roma tomatoes, carrots, green onions, peppers, beans, basil, cilantro and chives in our tiny garden. While we gardened Wilson kept busy with one of his favorite activities of late - standing along the landscaping and playing with the rocks. At one point we looked over and found that he had formed a little grouping of rocks along the ledge like he was collecting his favorites.

2. Basketball. Kevin plays on the Harvest basketball league and his team that has been struggling to "gel" this whole spring got a rare win today!

1. Rest. Tonight we are doing as little as possible and avoiding outside distractions to just spend quiet time together as a family.
