We were asked to stay the night for observation and when I hadn't progressed much further by Tuesday morning, they let me go and asked that I work from home since I work so far away and my first labor and delivery went so quickly. We asked when to come back, since most women would plan to go to the hospital with contractions 2 minutes apart? The Dr. shrugged her shoulders and said, "When you notice anything different." Hmmm...
I went to my regular Dr. appointment on Friday hoping for some answers. Still contracting regularly every two minutes. She suggested an exam next Wednesday and an amnio to check the baby's lung development. If they are developed, she would schedule an induction Thursday. The reasoning? #1 She has concerns with the regular contractions for the entire last two months. #2 My first labor and delivery were so quick and I handle contractions so well (i.e. it may be hard to differentiate the contractions now vs. contractions immediately before delivery) that there is a real concern I won't make it to the hospital in time, or with much time to spare.
So now we're feeling just as up in the air as before. We're not comfortable with this early of an induction but definitely feel on edge about the way things are currently going.
We're thankful that I don't seem to be progressing quickly and made it to 36 weeks. We hope to make it to 37 weeks and beyond and keep reminding ourselves that this could just be a bump in the road and we may find ourselves inducing as planned at 39 weeks!
